Engineering design of a fullsuspension mountain bike frame
Zvozil, Ondrej ; Lošák, Petr (referee) ; Březina, Lukáš (advisor)
The aim of this bachelor thesis is designing of a full-suspension mountain bike frame. At the beginning of the thesis mountain bikes are divided into categories, the function of a shock absorber is described and issues of bike kinematics and related characteristics are clarified. The thesis also describes properties of the most used materials for bike frames manufacturing. Subsequently, the most common systems of rear wheel linkage are analysed. Next, the requirements for own design are identified in terms of geometry, construction, kinematics and a creation of its 3D model in SolidWorks software. The characteristics of designed frame are analysed by specific software Linkage X3. Then a static analysis in Ansys software is made in order to select bearings for individual pivots. The final part of the thesis is dedicated to visualisation of designed frame.
The Map for MTB in the southwest area of Prague
Mátl, Jiří ; Šafránek, Jiří (advisor) ; Brtník, Tomáš (referee)
Title: The Map for MTB in the southwest area of Prague Author: Ing. Jiří Mátl Thesis Supervisor: PaedDr. Jiří Šafránek, Ph.D. Objectives: The aim of this work is to find out options for mountain biking in the southwest area of Prague. Opportunities, which is possible ride a bike, usability existing marked trails, create a map with particular selected locations, their evaluation and create another map with a circular route with two crossings in that area. Methods: In our thesis we used to get information about options of mountain biking in the southwest area of Prague which was done using research from available sources and proper field research. Results: The aim of the thesis is maps with areas and routes with their user description for MTB. Keywords: MTB, Trail, Southwest of Prague.
Effect of different types of bicycle tires on energy expenditure
Hejrová, Karolína ; Jindra, Matouš (advisor) ; Baláš, Jiří (referee)
Title: Effect of different types of bicycle tires on energy expenditure Objectives: The aim of this bachelor thesis is to determine the difference in energy expenditure when using different types of bicycle tires. Methods: The research group consisted of 5 males in age 26,4 ± 2,2 years. This was an experiment. The calculation of energy expediture was based on the amount of oxygen consumption (VO2) and exhaled carbon dioxide (VCO2), i.e. indirect calorimetry. For the analysis of respiratory gases MetaMax 3B measuring device was used. Three types of bicycle tires were tested. The test ride was carried out in laboratory on the cycling rollers. Probands completed one test ride (with a cadence of 80 rpm) on each type of tires. Test ride lasted on average 4:55 ± 1:50 min. For results were processed values of 4 minutes steady state VO2. Results: We found out the significant difference in energy expenditure between ride with road tires and ride with Fat Bike tires, and also between ride with trekking tires and ride with Fat Bike tires. The difference between ride with road and trekking tires was, due to the standard error of measurement, insignificant. Conclusion: The energy expenditure reached a significant increase while using tires with the largest contact patch compared to using tires with the smallest...
